Accessibility statement
How this website is built to work for everyone, where it falls short, and how to reach us without it.
We want everyone to be able to find out about their roof, book an inspection and read their paperwork, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This statement explains how this website is built, where we know it falls short, and how to reach us if something does not work for you.
1. The standard we work to
This website is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. We test it with a keyboard alone, with automated checks on every page, at screen widths from 390 to 1440 pixels, and with the browser zoomed in.
2. What we have done
- Keyboard access: every menu, filter, question and form control works with a keyboard. A "Skip to content" link is the first thing on every page, and focus is always visible.
- Menus: the Services menu and the mobile menu open with Enter or Space and close with Escape.
- Forms: every field has a visible label. Errors are described in words next to the field, and focus moves to the first problem when you submit.
- Reading order: each page has one main heading and a logical heading structure, with landmarks for the header, navigation, main content and footer.
- Colour and contrast: text meets the AA contrast ratios. Our hi-vis yellow is only ever used as a background, never as text on a light background.
- Images: photos that carry information have text descriptions. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Motion: if you have asked your device to reduce motion, smooth scrolling, reveal animations and image transitions are switched off.
- Targets: buttons and links are at least 24 by 24 pixels, and most are much larger.
3. Known limitations
- Inspection photos: the photos in your emailed inspection report are labelled with a location and a finding, but they do not have full descriptions. If you would like a written description of any photo, ask us and we will send one.
- The cost estimator's slider: works with arrow keys and screen readers, and there is also a number box next to it for typing an exact figure.
- Older PDFs: warranty certificates issued before 2024 were scanned from paper and are not tagged. We can re-issue yours as an accessible document on request.
4. Other ways to reach us
You never have to use the website to book an inspection or talk to us about your roof.
- Phone: (406) 555-0142, Monday to Friday 07:00 to 18:00, Saturday 08:00 to 13:00, and the storm line 24 hours a day.
- Email: hello@haldenroofing.example
- In person: 118 Tanner Road, Ashford. The office is on the ground floor with step-free access from the yard.
We can send reports, quotes and build log updates by email, text or post, in large print, or read them through with you on the phone.
5. Feedback
If you find something on this website that is hard to use, please tell us which page it was on and what happened. We aim to reply within two working days and to fix problems within 30 days, or explain when we will.
